About us
Sanctuary was established in April 2004, and in 2006 registered both as a Charity and as a Company Limited by Guarantee under the name Careful Grace Ministries.
The objects of Sanctuary are as follows: --
(a) to provide education, training and support in accordance with Christian principles for Christian churches involved in the pastoral care of people who have sexually abused children with the aim of promoting the care resettlement and rehabilitation of such persons and protecting the health and safety of children and
(b) providing education with the aim of promoting understanding of child sexual abuse and promoting understanding between the Christian church and professionals engaged in working with child sexual offenders
To oversee the fulfilment of its objects Sanctuary has an experienced Board of Trustees comprising people who have a wide experience in the fields of child protection, sex offender treatment, re-settlement of offenders, pastoral care and administration In addition Sanctuary has two advisors - a senior police officer, with experience in child abuse cases; and a survivor of child sexual abuse and adult clergy abuse, who has formed a charity to support other survivors.
In all of our work we emphasise the priority of child protection above all other issues where sex offenders are concerned. We also encourage churches to be aware of, and attentive to, the needs of survivors of sexual abuse.
